DELAMAIN FOLIO NATURA
New Product Development
The ambition was to create a more accessible expression of the maison: an ultra-premium Grande Champagne cognac with no age statement, designed for a cultured but less specialist audience and for more relaxed, convivial drinking occasions.
A cognac that could feel fresher, more generous and easier to approach, while remaining unmistakably Delamain.
The answer was already embedded in the maison’s own history.
Our challenge was not to reinvent Delamain, but to reveal a
different side of it.
The starting point came from the family’s naturalist heritage and, in particular, Jacques Delamain’s “Books of Nature”, a world shaped by observation, curiosity and a deep connection to the landscape.
Rather than treating this story as a historical reference, we used it as a way to introduce a more expressive and contemporary dimension to the brand.
The design needed to balance two seemingly opposite ideas: heritage and freshness, expertise and spontaneity, sophistication and accessibility.
We created a visual world that brings the richness of
Grande Champagne terroir to life through detailed
botanical and wildlife illustration.
Grapes, vine leaves, flowers, citrus fruits, a butterfly
and a bird form a vivid natural composition, not only
as decoration, but as an expression of abundance,
biodiversity and curiosity, reflecting the flavor profile
in a different way.
The vivid illustration contrasts with the cream gift box and label, while blind embossing, hot-foil details and a refined typeface combination express Delamain’s more traditional side, reassuring consumers through clear cues of heritage and craftsmanship.
The result is a Delamain that feels immediately recognisable, yet unexpectedly fresh.
Folio Natura shows that making a heritage brand more accessible doesn’t mean simplifying its story. Sometimes, it means finding a new way to tell it.
